Lord Ganesha or vighnaharta or Ganpati or Vinayaka is the God of knowledge who provides prosperity, fortune and success.
He is worshipped, or at least remembered, in the beginning of any auspicious performance for blessings and auspiciousness.
Ganesh Chaturthi held on the fourth day of the first fortnight (Shukla Chaturthi) in the month of Bhaadrapada in the Hindu calendar, usually August or September in the Gregorian calendar.
The vrat (Vowed religious observance) undertaken during Shri Ganesh Chaturthi is known as the ‘Siddhivinayak vrat’. Ideally, it should be performed in all the families.
